OnPoint Technologies Makes Investment in Zinc Matrix Power, Inc.

MAITLAND, FLORIDA – October 2004 – OnPoint Technologies, a strategic private equity firm funded by the U.S. Army, today announced that it has led an investment in Zinc Matrix Power, Inc. (“ZMP”), a developer of rechargeable alkaline zinc based cells for portable devices. OnPoint was joined by Intel Capital and existing angel investors in the financing.

"The Company’s rechargeable alkaline zinc technology provides a substantial increase in energy density over existing technologies," said John Trbovich, Principal of OnPoint Technologies. "We are excited about the potential to extend run times in a wide range of applications within several areas of the DOD."

ZMP was formed to develop high-performance rechargeable alkaline battery technology for commercial and military markets. ZMP recently unveiled a prototype battery running a laptop during a keynote address at the Fall Intel Developer Forum (IDF). The prototype battery provided approximately twice the run-time of a similar volume lithium ion pack.
